Brother & Sister Shared Bedroom

I had just finished my son's big boy room and loved it, but in the end he only cared to be in his sister's room. I realized over time that his room was basically only being used to sleep in. I was hesitant to have them share a room because I still wanted them to have their own individual spaces that felt "boyish" for him and "girly" for her, but in the end I love how it turned out. Most importantly, they love sharing a room!

I decided to go as simple and neutral as possible for this shared space. Most of their toys are now in their playhouse or play room down stairs. Cozy, warm and inviting was the feel I was going for. Their room is mainly for reading, snuggles and sleepy time.

My parents are super talented. My dad built the house bed frames and the book ledges for me and my mom refurbished the dresser they're sharing. I found this dresser years ago at a antique shop. Their dresser is in their closet to free up wall space.

The book ledges are so ideal for the kids, especially at their current ages (2.5 and 4). They can reach and see each book easily.

Between their beds I wanted something that identified their beds without necessarily saying their names. I decided to create silhouettes for each of them. To create these I followed this simple tutorial I found on Pinterest.

The two hanging posters were created on a word document in basic, "Times New Roman" font and printed locally. Poster hangers were purchased on Amazon. Each of my children have a "life scripture" I was given while pregnant with each of them. For more on the meaning or reason behind the scripture, see my previous post, "Whats in a name?".
